The writing is lovely and the change of POVs through the narrator is seamless.
I did find though, the very first part a bit slow, specially taking into account its moderate relevance later on. Still a very good read. Amazing story about a courageous woman with dreams and ability to adjust. Coming from Capverde and dreaming about becoming a doctor she takes the given chances and makes the best out of her life.
Dec 02, Rita Andres rated it it was amazing. Alba sent me this book, and I loved it. I am wondering if it is translated into English. According to the notes at the end of the novel, it is somewhat based on a girl from one of the African colonies off of Portugal.
