I hate to see them growing so used to each other like this to be separated later. Yuzu is definitely scarred, she's afraid of being left alone and afraid of becoming a burden, and at the same time, she's helping Kippei understand a bit more about how girls think and behave, and how to be a responsible human being.
On a side note, a little romance started to flourish on the side, and I like it. Jul 13, Emmy rated it liked it Shelves: manga.

The story is definitely developing nicely. Characters are starting to flesh out, too. In particular, I think Kippei is leaps and bounds better as a character in this volume. I love seeing how he's being changed by his relationship with Yuzu, and it was exciting to see a bit of progress with Kokoro. I'm looking forward to continuing the series! Jun 24, Naomi Sasaki rated it it was amazing. I loved to see how Kippei and Kokoros relationship progressed in this volume! And also loved the depth that all of the characters are getting. Its so sweet! May 11, katy rated it it was amazing.

Kippei, the main character, is a horny year-old no surprise there , and has no idea how to take care of a 5-year-old. At one point, he forgets she needs a lunch and gets her some onigiri from the store instead.
I've only read the first volume, but already I can tell that Kippei is going to learn a lot from taking care of Yuzuyu, become more responsible, and will probably have only one girlfriend. I'm also sure wacky hijinks will ensue. The only real question is how soon that will happen, and what pitfalls stand in his way. Unfortunately, the first volume didn't grab me enough to make me want to read any more unless I'm really bored one day. Or I have to start taking care of a 5-year-old cousin I never knew I had. I began reading this because I liked the summary. A year old ladies man named Kippei is suddenly thrust into taking care of his 5-year old cousin Yuzuyu when her mother suddenly disappears. Reading the reviews of other people who've recently read this series I was a bit leery to start it because of some of the negative reviews. They were saying things like, 'it's a cute story, but Kippei acts whiney' or something along those lines. Also some only liked the little girl, Yuzuyu. However, I picke I began reading this because I liked the summary.
However, I picked up books I know I still have two more volumes to read after them and began reading book 1 right away. I was shocked. The people who left those negative reviews were no where near what Kippei actually is like. I understand it is their opinion and I'm not blaming them for that. Kippei, while being a little naive about how to raise a 5-year old girl, takes her in and does his best to be there for her.
I saw him grow to really enjoy Yuzuyu and protect her as an older brother, or in this case cousin, would do. I am excited to continue reading this series to the end! It was so adorable how Yuzuyu acts around him and how Keppei comes to really care for her. I only hope things get better and better from here! Oct 15, Laura rated it really liked it Shelves: realistic-fiction , reviews , humor , manga. I think half the reason I liked this book is because Yuzu is so darn cute!
I've never felt that a manga character was cute before I saw this little 5-year-old. She has the sweetest face and she does the sweetest things When I picked this book up, I thought that I wouldn't like it. From the cover everything screams, "Stupid fangirl book! Only cutesy stuff inside! Real readers stay away! If someone des I think half the reason I liked this book is because Yuzu is so darn cute! If someone described this book to me, I would say that I'd hate it. But for some reason I just couldn't get enough of it!
Kippei is a complete jerk except for when he's with Yuzu. He doesn't respect women or anyone, it seems, but himself. But after he starts spending more time with Yuzu, he starts softening up, and then I liked him way more. He declined to "play" with some slut several times so he could take care of his little cousin, which shows he's maturing slightly. Jul 13, Elfdart rated it it was amazing. What the Hell did I just read? You remember the phony Seinfeld pilot within the show? The one where a man runs over Jerry and the judge decrees that he has to become Jerry's butler as penance? This is it in manga form. The story is utterly beyond credibility - the tale of a teenage boy forced to become 'mother' to his five year old niece because reasons. Characters are shallow and develop far too fast Kippei accepts his fate almost immediately , the plot is saccharine and everything is just so What the Hell did I just read?
Characters are shallow and develop far too fast Kippei accepts his fate almost immediately , the plot is saccharine and everything is just so over the top. I'm also not wild about the art. I've never been fond of the hyper cute 'huge eyed' style that you sometimes find in shoujo manga and some of the characters were difficult to tell apart. All in all, this one really isn't my thing. Maybe shoujo fans will enjoy it more but it's certainly not on the same level as the likes of Fruits Basket.

It is about a boy who has to learn to take over responsibility instead of living a rather careless, carefree life. The relationship between him an his cousin is so sweet and tender I was really hoping she would stay with Kippei for ever.

It is just a Slice-of-life story. I watched the anime quite some time ago, and two years ago I watched it again. I really like the anime and I do think there ought to be more anime and manga with children! The manga is excellent too, but my expectations may have been too high. I liked the plot and I liked the children - I love manga like this with sweet children or animals - but I had to think my rating over. My first thought was three stars, but that would not have been fair. It is an adorable manga and it was my fault for expe I watched the anime quite some time ago, and two years ago I watched it again.
It is an adorable manga and it was my fault for expecting too much. I don't even know what I was expecting, the manga is really good. Apr 26, Lauren rated it liked it Shelves: manga. This manga was cute overall but not really memorable in my opinion. My favorite character was Yuzuyu just because she was so cute and friendly to everyone. Even though I understand the attitude of Kippei and what he is supposed to be portraying I never like him, not even when he was with Yuzuyu.
Overall it was a pleasant and nice reading experience.
