And, in using method tools from other academic field, like in design or psychology, I knew this could lead to biases in my handling of the research project, for the better or for the worse.

But, at least, I hope that the reader will agree that, through my research questions, my approach sheds new light on the topic considering, even though the subjectivity of each concept, like feminism or gender, make them very difficult to deal with. In that respect, I admit that the reader could disagree with the definitions I retained. In order to avoid falling into those pitfalls, further research could draw from my experience taking the following suggestions. First, one could broaden the scope of the research by taking interviewees from different ethnic and social backgrounds.

Third, it could also be interesting to involve arts managers in the discussion. Indeed, the institutionalization of performance art and its discourse upon the performers has surely a great impact on the different issues raised throughout the research. Fourth, the audience could be also involved in the research, in order to explore the reception of the embodiment of gender identity in contemporary female performers. Fifth, it might be interesting to have a geographical comparative approach by meeting contemporary female performers that live and perform in different parts of the world, to break the monopoly of USA and UK in performance art.

Sixth, one could also explore different genres of performance art and see how different contemporary female performers deal with their gender identity in live art, theatre, dance even though it is surely tricky to separate those genres in performance art…. Seventh, other methods could be used: ethnography, auto-ethnography coupled with performance-as-research, for example, which could have very interesting outputs , visual analysis… Eighth, another kind of literature could be used: even though I emphasized how mainstream medias are now dealing with the topic, it would be interesting to explore other channels.
